Tamanchu!, a fan-co-created Craft IP, begins

89PRODUCE is proud to launch Tamanchu!, the first title in our fan-co-created “Craft IP” initiative.

Starting today, the story will be serialized as a novel on note. The platform will also give readers a place to talk directly with the original creator, Shuhei Yamaguchi, and take part in the project as it develops.

Set in Okinawa, the story follows high school student Aria Tamaki. As she faces the conflicts and growing pains of adolescence, she and her teammates set their sights on Koshien—the hallowed stage of Japanese high school baseball.

The story has a direction, but it is not confined to a single track. The characters’ actions, their choices, and even the course of the narrative may gradually change in response to what readers and fans share with us.

What is a “Craft IP”?

At 89PRODUCE, we are exploring a new kind of entertainment: IP that grows through ongoing conversation with readers and fans, shaped by their feedback along the way.

We coined the term “Craft IP” to express that idea.

Like craft beer or craft cola, a Craft IP is rooted in its community. It may begin small, but it is made carefully, by hand and with a clear point of view.

Rather than sending information in only one direction, we want to create alongside fans and nurture a community around stories filled with warmth and feeling. Our goal is for that process itself to become an enjoyable form of entertainment.
